Local Hospice Program honors its volunteers
As part of National Volunteer Week (April 18-24), Hospice of Douglas County is honoring its hospice volunteers who bring hope, dignity, and love to those facing a life-limiting illness. Hospice volunteers make sure that the people they care for and their families find hope within each day, have their dignity preserved, and are surrounded by love even at the final moments of life.
Hospice of Douglas County has over 25 volunteers that help care for patients and families in our community. With their help, Hospice of Douglas County has provided the kind of high-quality care that patients and families want. Last year, more than180 patients and their family caregivers chose the compassionate end-of-life care found through Hospice of Douglas County.
“Hospice volunteers play an indispensable role in enabling Hospice of Douglas County to offer the best care possible for patients living with life-limiting illness, their families and caregivers. By sharing their time, energy, and expertise, our volunteers bring compassion and caring to the lives of those in need,” commented Sue Quist, RN Hospice Coordinator.
Awareness of the hospice program among the community and medical professionals is important to help ensure that patients and their families have the end-of-life care options that will bring them comfort. During this National Volunteer Week, please consider what you can do to help support Hospice of Douglas County.
